OUR STORY

When people walk through burnout, identity struggles, addiction, and mental health challenges, it changes them. Too often, within the church, this type of raw experience leaves many wandering if the church can handle their mess. What happens when our stories are too big? Will the community abandon us if they really knew what we were like behind all the veneer?
Healing Villages was created because the Church should hold people’s stories with safety and care — mess and all.

A group of friends in the PNW embraced their own recovery journeys, and found only grace on the other side. Fueled by deeper emotional awareness, mercy-filled freedom, and deep healing in Jesus, the friends began to dream of offering the same hope to others. Healing Villages was birthed out of a shared recovery story — a desire for all to find wholeness in their identities..

Initially embedded in a church where that group of friends met. The community started to dream about a curriculum that would help the stuck become free. Passion was ignited. Tools and resources compiled. As it started to come together, there was a real sense that they were on to something beautiful.

After a few successful years piloting the program in their local church, that group of friends launched Healing Villages as a 501(c)3 non-profit. We dream of impacting churches and mission organizations around the globe with trauma-informed and story-driven care.

Since its inception, Healing Villages has served dozens of adults. Many have said it was the most formative experience in their discipleship. We’ve found that Collabs are more impactful than months of costly one-on-one therapy.
